You can control Apple CarPlay in several convenient and secure ways:

With Siri: Use the voice command button on your steering wheel to activate Siri. Then you can give commands like “call [name]” or ask Siri to check your unread messages. Siri can respond to many commands and read your messages aloud. You can even ask it to write replies to incoming messages.
With the HMI Commander, as Apple CarPlay mirrors your iPhone's interface on your vehicle's screen, you can navigate through applications using the HMI Commander. Scroll and press an icon to open an application. You can also use the buttons on your steering wheel to adjust the volume or skip to the next song when listening to music.
With the touchscreen: When your vehicle is stationary, you can use the touchscreen to interact with Apple CarPlay. Touch the application you want to use and operate it as you would on your iPhone. The touchscreen automatically deactivates when you resume driving, but you can always use Siri or the HMI Commander to continue using CarPlay safely and conveniently.
